Mission Statement

It is the goal of Newcomers and Neighbors of Seymour and Oxford to bring the women of both towns together to form friendships, become acquainted with our towns, their facilities and organizations.  The Club works together to support various functions to benefit our communities and local charities such as the town libraries and fire departments, Boy and Girl Scouts, Spooner House, Norma F. Prfiem Breast Cancer, St. Jude's Hospital, The Umbrella program, Ronald McDonald House and Seymour/Oxford Food banks.  The Club also sponsors its annual Heart and Home Craft Fair every fall in which all net profits go to local charities, scholarships and community projects.

Who We Are

The members of Newcomers and Neighbors of Seymour and Oxford are composed of women of various ages, life stages, interests and professions.  We are married, single, moms, grandmothers, educators, human resource specialists, direct-selling consultants, nurses, paralegals, realtors, recruiters and volunteers.

Our interests include scrapbooking, decorating, quilting, decorative painting, knitting, reading, cooking and outdoor activities.

Scholarships

We award two scholarships each year in honor of John T. DeBarber (the first Seymour resident to be lost to us during the Viet Nam War) to two graduating high school students residing in Seymour or Oxford. Another scholarship is awarded to a woman who is going back to college for a higher or additional degree.
